The Sabre U2 Asynchronous USB DAC works on Android!

I have been searching for an Android device on which the Sabre U2 Asynchronous usb dac works. I've tried several smartphones and tablets, but none of them worked with the usb dac. Then I found out that there are some (cheap) Android mini pc's who support usb soundcards. I've bought a MK808B (only 40 euro's), connected the Sabre U2 dac (no OTG needed) and it worked! This is really nice, because now I can use the MK808B as a Dedicated Spotify Connect server; use your tablet or smartphone and the Spotify app to let the MK808B know which song it has to stream over wifi. This works much better than bluetooth streaming for example. And with the Sabre dac connected, it outputs great sound!

I'm so excited about this that I've made a blog on which you can read more on how to do this:

I hope this information is useful for some people.

Hi michel12,

Yesterday I've received the device and it did not work with my Samsung S4 (S4-> Micro USB OTG -> Sabre) and I though already that something wrong with the device.
Than I connected it to Computer directly without OTG and the device was working !!! - so the device is OK.

Than I found a workaround !! :-)

The solution was S4->Mini OTG to Femail USB (see link below) --> Simple USB Hub -> Sabre -> Headphones/Optical - IT's WORKING !!

Hi wildog,

Great to hear you've got it working on your S4! I also tried it with a external powered usb-hub, but at my devices it still didn't work. Now my devices are a bit older than your S4, so maybe that is the difference. But great to hear you now can enjoy really really great sound from your S4!
Hi Wildog,

I've posted a reaction on your reply earlier, but it didn't show up here, so now another try. Great to hear you've got the Sabre working on your S4! I've used a usb-hub also, but don't need it right now. Great this works for you!
